nockergeek: (I'm okay...)

I'm not dead! I'm getting better. I think I'll go for a walk...

Well, I actually made it to work today, but left around 12:30 or 1 because I felt like utter shit. This evening, my throat doesn't hurt, and I've been coughing up some of the phlegm that made its way down there (lovely image, I know), so maybe I'm almost over this. I can only hope that by downing fluids until my eyes float and doping up on sinus medication (the root cause of all this is my sinuses - my ears are all stuffy now), I can break this illness's hold over me. I alternate from feeling really decent in the early morning to feeling like death warmed over in the late morning/early afternoon, but then by the evening I seem to improve. Eating seems to help, especially spicy food. Little chocolate donuts seem to help too, even if it's purely psychological (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] greenwings!)

Did actually get caught up on some work, though, so that was good. I feel like today wasn't a total wash. Perhaps this weekend I can get the rest of my productivity back; I still have minis to paint for the next D&D game on Memorial Day weekend... whcih reminds me, I need to see if I have Memorial Day off. Also need to make sure A-Kon's requested off in writing, even though I've told my boss about it several times.

Starting to get the RPG itch again, spurred on by X-Men 2, Final Fantasy Origins, and finishing The Way of the Traitor. Going to have to order the newest Sano Ichiro paperback, The Pillow Book of Lady Wisteria, since the local B&N doesn't have it in stock. Perhaps I'll check the Borders in Lee's Summit. Anyway, I'm getting superhero RPG ideas, L5R d20 ideas, and standard D&D ideas, so who knows what (if anything) will come of it. If I can just get a player group together -- my eternal lament. Still, I'm sure I can find at least 3 or 4 people who are interested in playing something. Perhaps I could run a Mutants and Masterminds one-shot to get used to running again, something simple with a good mix of RP and combat. We'll see...

On a side note...

More memory is a must. While 256MB isn't bad, I'm beginning to think that I'm going to have to move into the 512-768MB range. I don't know if my mobo can handle anything more, since one part of the manual says 1.5GB, and another says 768MB. *shrugs* Of course, faster memory would be nice, too... which would mean upgrading my mobo anyway. I wonder how much a new P4 or Athlon (or recently recent one - don't need bleeding edge), mobo, and 1GB of DDR would cost...
