Mar. 19th, 2003 10:17 pmAnd now, ignoring world events for a short time...
I really need to get back into playing Warlord again. I've got plenty of cards, even if I can't buy packs of the new set for the time being (I gave up buying cards for Lent), but I still can't break the AEG curse -- I can't come up with any good decks. Couldn't do it with L5R, or Doomtown, and now I can't do it with Warlord. I think I just need to play more and see what works, but good luck doing that. Hard to play more often when I'm the only one in the area (other than Dan) who plays. Perhaps I could toss Dennis my Rathe deck... it zooms.
Work's been stressful because of short-notice deadlines. We rolled one project live on Monday (thus ending months of back-and-forth time with the client) when the client just decided, out of the blue, that they wanted the system up on Monday. I've got another project that goes live tomorrow, and that one's involved early hours since they're in Eastern time and start their day 2 hours earlier than we do -- they run 8 to 5 Eastern, we run 9 to 5 Central). Of course, there's also been the standard must-have-now maintenance work trickling in from all angles, and of course I have more in the pipe as soon as I finish this job. Z brought up a good point, though -- a year or so ago, I was complaining that we didn't have enough work and that I was getting bored. Be careful what I wish for, huh? Well, at least it means the company's got jobs coming in. Seems like our salesperson signs on a new customer every week or so now, so perhaps we can hire someone new again.
Trying to get the framework for a d20 L5R game going... with a few changes. Dropping the hit point system, for starters. The M&M Damage Save system seems much better, although it requires me to translate every weapon and damaging spell fom hit point damage to a damage bonus. I think it will be worth it, though. Now I just need to find out if anyone's interested in playing... Oh, and by the way, if anyone has a spare copy of Secrets of the Mantis they'd be willing to sell me, I'd appreciate it. :)
Finally found Seth's present, so now I just have to deliver it...
That's about it for the moment. Time to go to bed soon; have an early morning tomorrow. Hopefully it'll stop raining tonight and be halfway sunny and not so grim tomorrow.
