Busy day...
My feet are shrinking, I've spent 8 hours rebuilding my computer, and my church opened service with a Whitesnake song.
All in all, a pretty good Sunday.
Oh, I should explain....
While grocery shopping at WalMart today, we stopped by the shoe section since both our shoes were on their last legs. Fortunately, they had a large number of shoes on clearance, but unfortunately, none in 12 1/2 - my size (or so I thought). I found a size 12, tried it thinking that it would be too tight -- and instead, found it to be too loose in the ankle. So, I figure I'll try a size 11 1/2, hoping that it'll be a bit more snug, but not too snug. Well, they didn't have any size 11 1/2s, but they had a size 11. On a whim, I go ahead and try the 11s... and they fit perfectly. Not too loose, not too tight, and without too much excess toe room. Apparently, either I've been overestimating my shoe size, these are sized strangely, or my feet are shrinking. :)
Dad kicked me a spare 40GB hard drive today, so it was time to replace the old 13GB with something much nicer. While I had the case open, I figured that this would be the perfect opportunity to clean out any dust and dog hair (yes, Ein's hair gets into everything), so I needed a can of compressed air. Then I decided that an extra case fan would be worthwhile as well, so off to CompUSA I went; I figured since I wasn't ordering online, I'd get the parts on time. :) Grabbed a fan, a can, some thumbscrews for the case, and a new keyboard, since keyboards now cost exactly the same as a pack of keyboard cleaning wipes -- it's almost cheaper to replace them than reuse them. Got home, and discovered that the fan I grabbed was too large; I needed an 80mm, and I had a misplaced, strangely labeled 92mm, so back to CompUSA I went. Strangely enough, the only 80mm fans they had left for the same price were LED fans, so grabbed one, and now my computer has a slight blue glow to it. The next 6 hours were spent formatting the drive and throwing Win2k on it, so I have a much more stable box now. :)
And finally, the Whitesnake. You see, last week, Garrett (the programming director) made a reference to Whitesnake when describing how the music team likes to throw strange things into the mix - we had an accordion on stage last week during the opener, Toad the Wet Sprocket's Walk on the Ocean. Anyway, this week, the music team decided to open with Whitesnake's Here I Go Again... but didn't tell Garrett. In fact, they sent him out on a long errand during setup to make sure they could rehearse in relative secrecy. He had no idea what they were doing until service started... and from across the theater, we could see Garrett alternatively blushing and cracking up because of the joke played on him. I love it when a good practical joke comes together so successfully. :) And strangely enough, the song fit the message today, so it's all good!
