L-O-N-G Weekend.
Aug. 12th, 2002 03:58 pmA very hectic weekend.
Saturday wasn't too unusual, but it was busy. Deposit Z's paycheck, take Ein out to get his nails trimmed (during which time he squirmed and protested loudly), run by Casa to check on everyone's mail while they're away at GenCon, go out to lunch, come home, have Dennis come over, hang with him for a while, get stood up by Dan, then run out to Lee's Summit for our D&D game, in which we needed divine intervention to solve our problems. Get home around 11:00 or so, go to sleep.
Sunday, Z wakes me and tells me that Ein's sick. Joy of joys. He can't keep down food, and he's defecated (what a wonderful word - "defecated") all over his cage. We walk him, he vents a bit more from both sides, he alternately has hyper energy and looks miserable, and we put him back to bed -- after cleaning it, of course. This reminds me too much of October, when Ein got sick and nearly bankrupted us, so I'm a wreck. I'm both worried about my furry child and about our financial situation, almost to the point of being physically ill.
Then the church thing, where they had an intestesting message on emotional intimacy in marriage. Some neat things to hear, but Z and I didn't relate much to the problems given. Still, though, the advice was good and solid. Asked God for help with Ein, because He knows that I just can't handle it.
Back home to check on Ein. He's better; no new vomiting or diarrhea, so we let him sleep some more. Mom and Dad took us out to Cracker Barrell for a very good lunch, and we return home to nap. I was exhausted, so the extra 2 1/2 hours of sleep felt wonderful.
We wake back up, rouse Ein (who is tired of being in his cage at this point), and Z whips up some bland rice and chicken for him to eat, which he does -- he's so hungry that she has to meter out his food to keep him from gobbling it all down in record time. He also has some water and ice, and miracle of miracles, he keeps it all down all night long, and into this morning. We put him back to bed, so he can get more rest... and then go grocery shopping! I treat myself to some peach-mango salsa and lime-flavored corn chips, because damnit, my mind is frazzled and I need a treat. We get back home, I spend about 45 minutes finding a DVD player that'll work on my computer, and then collapse on the chaise to watch Harry Potter, read Harry Potter, and eat chips and salsa.
I'm still a bit frazzled today, so I think I'm going to need a mental break tonight.
