Closure.

Was searching for friends' names and such on Google, and I just decided to see what happened if I put in my first girlfriend's name in. Came up with several mentions of her as a theatre student at CMSU... and her personal page up on Geocities.

And for some reason, I was drawn to write her.

Now, don't get ahead of me here. I don't want to insinuate myself back into her life. We've taken very different paths since then, and it's probably best that things remain that way. Not that there were all that many hard feelings between us, but it's just not something I'm interested in, nor is it something I'd imagine she'd want either. We dated, did theatre together, enjoyed fantasy and sci-fi, played Magic, made out a lot, then broke up when I went off to college, got together again briefly, and broke up again because it just wasn't the same. Besides, we both had a lot of emotional growing left to do. It was a nice time, but it's a "was". They're pleasant memories, and I'd like to leave them that way.

Instead, I just wrote a short, sweet afterword to our time together 7 years ago.

Robyn,

Just randomly Googling around, and I found your website. Good to see that you stuck with the theatre thing -- I just couldn't do it, but I'm glad you could, since you really seemed to enjoy it back in high school.

Anyway, just thought I'd drop you a line wishing you the best in all your future endeavours.

And closed the book and set it up on the shelf with my other memories. It's nice to have a sense of finality on the whole thing, like I've said the final friendly words that I didn't get to say before, and now it's really really done.
