My weekend

Well, Friday night was short and simple. Got home, went out with Z, and she picked up my birthday present for me - a collection of Garrison Keillor's "News from Lake Wobegon" monologues on 4 cassettes. I've been enjoying listening to his Lake Wobegon tales lately, which is somewhat odd for me. I always used to associate them with my grandparents, because it's something that old people listened to, or so I thought. Catching him on NPR one Sunday after church changed my mind, because he made me laugh. His wit caught me, hooked me, and reeled me in, and now I try to catch it every Sunday. Anyway, after picking up the present (at a hefty discount, thanks to her working at Barnes & Noble), I took Z out to dinner at Master Wok for some delicious Chinese cooking.

Saturday was busy. Wake up, take care of the puppy, shower, get dressed, get lunch, wait for Dan to walk over from his girlfriend's apartment, go out for ice cream, then run home, drop off Z and Ein, then run out with Dan to Battlezone, then out to PlayCentral Station for some DDR (which I didn't play - these shoes hurt my feet too much), then run Dan home, then back to my home, make sammiches, get my D&D books, kiss Z goodbye again, then rush off to Ashley and Garrett's for some D&D, occasionally interrupted by a bit of Halo on the X-Box (with its GIGANTIC controllers). Oh, and I died, along with two other people - fighting a kraken will do that sometimes. Thank goodness for raise dead. Get home after midnight, find Z still awake, go to bed with her, sleep until morning.

Sunday was somewhat more relaxed. Ran lights for church, since Mom and Dad was going to visit Grandma at their new church in Odessa, went out to lunch with Z and Mags, swiped my parents' vacuum cleaner while they were out, then went home and did some cleaning for tonight's party. After that was all done (and Ein was suitably traumatized by the vacuum), we went out to Babbage's to spend some gift money on the Warcraft 3 collector's set - which is worth the money, especially when your wife gets a 20% discount for working at B&N. :)

Afterwards, more cleaning, Z napping, Mom and Dad taking back their vacuum, swimming with Z and Mags - Z took Ein to the pool, and he was really well behaved - then dinner, some Adult Swim (Harvey Birdman is hilarious, if a bit surreal), some touching, and bed. Oh, and we went grocery shipping after swimming. Can't forget that. I went full-on geek and got myself a Star Wars cake for my birthday. I haven't had one of those since I was, like, 3, when my mom made an R2-D2 cake for me. I was a bit sheepish about getting it, but Z said that since I only turn 25 once, I might as well. :)

So anyway, it's my birthday today! Happy birthday to me!
