Monday and everything before...
I took a day off yesterday. It was immensely awesome for my peace of mind. I realized that, over the last few weeks, I hadn't had a single day - not even on a weekend - where I wasn't going somewhereto do something. The last week was especially hectic, since every day we were running to Mom and Dad's house to check on the cats as soon as I got home from work. So yesterday, I decided not to go anywhere or do anything that I didn't want to do, to make no plans, and just have a day for me and Z. I mean, if I have the vacation time, I might as well use it, right?
It was so good for my state of mind that when I drenched my legs in mud through a step on a seemingly-safe garden stone, I just laughed. It didn't bother me in the least. Just cleaned myself off, put on a new pair of socks, and went on my way. A few days ago, I think I would have been frustrated and upset. Today, I just took it with a smile.
As everyone else has been saying, Spider-Man was an awesome film. An excellent take on the friendly neighborhood webslinger. My favorite portrayal, though, was not of Spidey or the Green Goblin or MJW, but of J. Jonah Jameson! J.K.Simmons did an awesome job of bringing the editor of the Daily Bugle to life! And they even had a Robbie Robertson. Oh, life is good. It's not a movie that I'd want to watch over and over again, perhaps, but the money we spent on our tickets was definitely well-spent.
Let's see, what else went down this weekend in no particular order? We surreptitiously dropped off Kim's (late) birthday present and left it on her doorstep. My paladin in Garrett's D&D game helped take out a coven of devil-worshippers in record time. I saw a raccoon hanging out behind the dumpster next to our apartment. I painted a miniature (not counting priming time) in 2 hours, complete with detail work. I got binders started for the last three L5R expansions. I went out to lunch with my parents on Cinco de Mayo and was reminded why I don't like authentic Mexican food. I shared a tasty tomato and pork sausage pizza with Z.
And topped it all off with a great Monday vacation..
