More general randomness...
Well, Garrett's given me six more miniatures to paint, so I celebrated by going out to Tabletop and picking up $20 in Citadel paints - a new metallic color (and I may pick up a few more in the near future) and a whole range of skin tones and highlight colors. I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do with these. I love painting minis; it's about as artistic as I can get, and it's very goal oriented and concrete - at the end, you've got something to show for your work. It's very rewarding.

Went to the sword tourney with Dennis and Dan last night. Dennis went 0-4, mostly (I think) because he's just not used to the Gold L5R environment yet. With some tweaking and practice, he'll get his groove back. I went 1-3, and I know what changes I need to make for the deck, except for what gold scheme to use. Got a couple in mind, but haven't decided what to do yet. Dan, however, took 2nd with the Crab deck we built together. I'm not trying to take credit for his performance - the deck's a pretty straightforward military follower deck. Dan's just a good player and knows how to work it.

Well, Z and I are looking at getting a new laptop and putting it on our Gateway account. The clerk at the Gateway Country store said it would probably add around $25 to our monthly payments for a notebook that would be much more powerful than our desktop, and lightyears beyond the little 150 MHz Pentium laptop we have on loan from the office. Z's getting some job applications together for extra income, and if all goes well, we might have a new faster PC in the home within a month or so.

Layne Staley died. A great deal of suckage there - AiC is one of my favorite bands, and has been since high school. Their unplugged album is right up there with Nirvana's as one of the best acoustic rock albums in recent history. I wonder if the monkey on Layne's back finally got the best of him...

And in totally unrelated news, happy birthday, Jed!! I have an idea of what to give you, but it might be a few days late, if you don't mind waiting.
