The ancient air conditioning system in our building is active now, but it's definitely not a quiet one. My coworker Jeff finds the constant repetitive mechanical noise to be a bit irritating, but I find its pseudo-industrial groove to be kind of refreshing. I will say that it's doing its job nicely - it's a nice cool 72 in here, if not a bit cooler.

I love Spring. Every morning when I walk Ein, I see more verdant growth. The trails behind our apartment are getting greener with scrub, more and more dead grass in the lawns is replaced with fresh new blades, and the tree-lined hills across the way are getting leafier every day. I haven't seen Spring here yet - we moved here in October - so it's very refreshing to see all this life springing back into existence from dormancy all around us. I can even overlook the downsides of Spring; the return of allergies and insects isn't bothering me much. I'm sure I'll hate Summer's oppressively muggy heat, but for now, Spring's my buddy.

Saw something on MTV2 on Monday night that I'd never think I'd see on that station - uncensored videos. They were doing the 20 most controversial videos that night, and although I only got to see a few videos, I was pleased with what I saw. The uncensored Jeremy by Pearl Jam (complete with gun-in-kid's-mouth scene), Stan by Eminem, and Closer by Nine Inch Nails. No language was cut or bleeped, no disturbing scenes were removed, and even nudity (in the case of Closer was shown. I wish I could have seen more, but I had to wake up early the next day for the whole car maintenance thing. I'd like to see more programming like that - late night unedited videos and songs.

Speaking of the car, he's running noticeably smoother now. He still needs his automatic transmission fluid replaced with fresh fluid, but that can wait 'til the next maintenance run in July. Of course, that'll be something like $260, but we can save up (I hope). Fresh brakes, fresh plugs, fresh belts, fresh coolant, fresh oil and filters, freshly-lubed chassis - even the windows roll down smoother now! All in all, he's in much better shape. I wonder how much of an improvement I'll see in his gas mileage.

Mozilla is quickly becoming my browser of choice. It's as fast as IE, it's more standards compliant, it gives me easy control over cookies and other privacy items, and it has tabbed browsing so I only need one instance of it open. Now, if I can just get it to use Netscape plugins successfully (so I could view Shockwave content - Flash comes across fine, but Shockwave doesn't), I wouldn't have much of a need for IE at all!

Got our home network setup, complete with connection sharing, so now Z can MUSH while I play Diablo 2. In fact, she's MUSHing while I write this!

Kick-ass.
