An up-and-down day.
Mar. 17th, 2002 11:11 pmToday started with a bout of depression. (Whee! How fun!) My whole body was depressed - I was listless, felt chilled, and had problems thinking coherently. A lot of love from Z and a little extra blood sugar from some donuts helped snap me out of it, though, and by about 10:45 AM I felt more or less my normal self. Just a note: if I'm depressed, and you're trying to cheer me up and I'm not being responsive, please don't get offended. I've found that until I've ridden the wave for a bit, even the most sincere attempts to brighten my mood don't work. It's nothing personal - I really do appreciate the effort - but it's just one of those things; it just takes me a while to warm up enough to let the cheering sink in.
Anyway, picked up Dennis after church (as he is sans driver's license for the rest of the month - film at 11), went out to a tiny little Chinese restaurant in Lee's Summit for lunch (where we got beaucoup food for not too much money), and then all went home to do some Ein time. Tried to get a hold of Dan, but it turned out that he had St. Patty's plans already, so we headed to the mall for shopping and DDR. Met up with Mags right there at Fun Factory, so we watched other people DDR for several minutes, then I went ahead and did a set. Not my best performance - I felt just slightly off today - but overall not bad; I was definitely keeping up with the other people who were dancing. A bit later, I did a second set, and did better than the first set. I even managed to do Stomp to My Beat on Difficult (a 6-footer) and only miss 8 steps. Not too shabby, considering I've only done that song on that difficulty once before.
Then we did some shoppin'. Z and I went by Rue 21 to check out what was on sale (and Z picked up a present for Mags), and we ran by Gadzooks - Mags was looking for yellow hotpants for her Faye Valentine costume, and Dennis ended up getting a beautiful black shirt with silver dragons on it. That boy is developing a sweet sense of fashion. Then, a stop by Candyopolis to get a Coke Icee for Z, and the obligatory visit to Babbage's. Tried out Bloody Roar for Gamecube - I'll admit, I don't detest the Gamecube. The controller isn't too bad, and it's got a decent selection of games. If my soul didn't already belong to Sony, Square, Konami, and Capcom (a joint venture, I'm sure), I'd almost consider buying one. Almost.
While we were at Babbage's, I decided to peruse the PC game strategy guide section, since they have a small selection of D&D books there. The selection is getting quite small - they had around 8 books left - and they were priced to move. I ended up grabbing a copy of Lords of Darkness, the "villains and evil conspiracies" book for the Forgotten Realms, for $10 - a 66% discount. Also grabbed Z a soundtrack of arranged Final Fantasy music, which made her quite cheery.
After that, all four of us piled in Runcie and we went back to our apartment, where we watched some NieA under 7. I started getting dead tired and having intestinal distress, so I took a brief nap. Would have been longer, but I just couldn't sleep. We caught the tail end of Simpsons, Mags, Z, and Dennis ordered a pizza, we watched the last episode of Trigun (which wasn't nearly as depressing as we'd feared - Z still has Cowboy Bebop ending shock), and then called it a night. Mags went home, we took Dennis home, then went home, gave each other some light touchings, and Z went to sleep as I took a hot bath to help my body relax. And I just got out of that bath.
So anyway, LJ, that was my day. A little good, a little bad, and a lot of fun with friends. I can live with that and be pretty happy. Well, except when I'm depressed... but I always get over that. :)
