Sometimes, I think about how non-skilled I am technically. I mean, sure, I can hold my own in basic PHP and Java programming, and I know ColdFusion pretty well, and I can slog my way through basic administration on both Windows and Linux, but I don't really excel at anything. My skillset is not as sharp as I'd like it to be. Sometimes, I wonder why.
Well, part of it is that I have trouble focusing sometimes, and sometimes I procrastinate. Also, I have a lot of other things I like to do - but then, I don't devote nearly as much time to them as I'd like, either. Plus I have a wife and a corgi-son to spend time with and love, and friends to visit. Then there's computer time - we've only got one computer with a net connection, and both of us want to use it - and both of us would like to see each other, too.
Yes, it's a month or so late for a New Year's Resolution, but I'm going to make one, and I'm going to make it stick. I think between God and Z, one of the two can kick me in the ass and keep me on it. :) My goal is to stop wasting as much time doing nothing and spend more time working on the things I want to work on. Sure, I'll still take time out to relax, but I also want to do some me time working on my personal projects, instead of letting them sit and gather dust.
I think I can do it. I can do it.
