And the word of the day is...

Willpower.

Not going to fall into a rut of websurfing today. I'm going to focus on the tasks at hand, and focus on getting my work done. I'm also going to focus on doing the things I want to get done, like mini-painting and website work... making sure I still have time for diversions like DDR, FFX, Fallout, Starcraft, Battle Realms, and such.

It's just that I've always been a creature of impulse. I'm not totally without willpower - I don't get suckered in easily to half-baked schemes and such - but I tend to follow my whims. My mind flows freely wherever it wants, and sometimes I'm just along for the ride. I'm trying to start steering a bit more. It's not really self-denial, though - I'm still going to do websurfing later. It's more self-deferrment and self-reward - when I finish tasks X and Y, I can do Z. :)

Wow. I am... myself.

I'm Bob!

What FIGHT CLUB character are you?

I am Bob. Well, thank you for clearing that up. I thought I'd forgotten my name for a second. :)

Well, my search for willpower's going... okay, I suppose. I'm doing better than normal. I've actually been able to say "no" to a few of my random wanderings into cyberspace. I've been taking one or two five-minute breaks to check a few LJs, and that's been about it.

Well, while I take this time waiting for a site publisher program to finish running, I thought I'd recap my weekend.

Saturday
Relaxed in the morning, then spent a good two or three hours finishing up miniatures for Garrett's D&D game. I really need some finer brushes, or at least some new fine brushes - my old ones are losing the ability to do neat pinpoints for eyes... well, either that, or my eye technique needs some work - I can get decent ones about a third of the time. Packed up everything, and Z and I drove to Ashley and Garrett's place for the game... then turned around about halfway when I realized I'd forgotten my character sheet. D'oh! Anywho, we made it just in time, and had a good evening... even if my character was killed by an evil cleric's death touch. Oh well... Ashley's character apparently has a plan to have me resurrected before the next game, which is in 4 days of game time. Neat trick when raising the dead is against the law in this world.

After the game, did some grocery shopping, and got home to a corgi who was happy to see us. He was so good that we decided to experiment and let him sleep outside his cage for the first time ever. He was amazingly good - he slept on the bed with us the entire time, so we're going to start making this a regular habit. Of course, having a corgi on the bed puts a damper on any spontaneous love-making, but if we're in the mood we'll make him sleep in his "room". :)

Sunday
Woke up early, picked up the Maggie and all went to church. Z says I was actually singing along with one of the worship songs, a fact which I vehemently denied (even if it was true. ;) Mom (who's sick - I hope she gets better soon) gifted us with $20 for lunch, so Z and Mags and I went out to Master Wok afterwards. Got home, did the laundry thing, burned a CD for Jed, and then headed over to Casa Del Geek to hang with Jed and Seth and crew. Kim's apparently gone from being Sim-crazy to being Starcraft-crazy (my kind of game), so all we got to see of her was her back as she was busy wiping out the Zerg. Jed hooked me up with some yummy Phoenix goodness, beat down my hastily-thrown-together Dragon deck (which may become a Tattooed Enlightenment Deck soon), and failed to see any of my FFX beatings due to his Playstation 2 being persnicketty. Grabbed dinner at Sonic, which is good as always, and had a nice quiet night at home.

Just discussing my love life here. Move along. )
