What a day!!
Nov. 10th, 2001 11:59 pmWhat a day. What a good AND bad day. Let me break it down.
I was going to go in to work today, as there were about a half dozen things that I needed/wanted to get done for a large project that's due on the 14th. I take my Z out to breakfast, then drop her off at home and head to Downtown KC. Find a parking spot right in front of the door, go inside, go up to the 9th floor, get into the lobby, get my keys out, go to unlock the door that leads to the developers' offices...
...and discover I have the wrong key. There's no way for me to get to my office, and I don't have any home numbers for anyone at work, so I'm stuck. I call Z, she emails my boss, and I wait for an hour or so, playing solitaire on my Journada (thanks, Dad! It's a sanity-saver!), and then head back home. Bummer. I work up emergency plans for getting things done on Monday.
Went with Z to watch Dan and Dennis play in a DDR tournament. Dan did really well, but Dennis was just off today. Don't know what happened. Meanwhile, Z and I debated the merits of buying a home set of DDR versus waiting a month. Time for me to auction of those Magi-Nation cards to get some extra flow, yo. I need my Dynamite Rave fix!
Got home, decided to blow the fuck out of things in Devil May Cry. Such a sweet game -- hard as hell, but sweet, and not so bad once you get the hang of the controls. Still have a while to go, though.
Remembered that I had some of my programs from work on my home machine, since I'd taken them home to work on last weekend (which I barely did). Thank you, God, for giving me the foresight to do that. I may not have been able to get my full half-dozen things done, but I did get the critical changes to the site live.
Had pizza from Northern Lights. Much lighter than Pizza Hut pizza, definitely. Try chicken and tomato with alfredo sauce on hand-tossed crust -- it's yummy!
Got our checks from Kathy for work we did a week or so ago, and my new bank card. Financial situation is looking better and better.
Got my webpage up!! Finally, Fire & Blood is up... well, at least parts of it. There's more yet to do. But I finally found a design I liked and content I could fill it with.
Tried Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. Got to thank Mags for those. They're made by Jelly Belly, so of course the flavors are dead-on. Toasted Marshmallow, Buttered Popcorn, and Honey Graham Cracker are my favorites, followed closely by Black Pepper. However, avoid Sardine and Booger like the plague -- Booger's even worse, because the texture feels like snot somehow, and the flavor is dead on (hey, I was a little kid once... I remember). I couldn't get the flavor out of my mouth for at least an hour! I just hope they never really add that Vomit flavor.
Well, I think that's all for today. (Yea, that's all.) I hope tomorrow is a little less hectic. :)
