And now, to Florida

For those of you who haven't heard yet, my wife's grandfather passed away.

So now, our quest is to find a way to get to Florida for a couple of days next week for the funeral. Truthfully, we don't have the funds for it -- even what's left in the A-Kon fund would be insufficient if we wanted to fly down -- but somehow, we'll make it. We may end up driving, although that'll take about 4 days round-trip, longer than I'd like. Our struggle is basically time vs. money -- we can save time, or money, but not both...

Don't know how we're going to pull this off, but we'll figure out something...

I don't see how driving to florida is going to be cheaper in the full cost analysis than flying. (( unless you are taking 5ish people to a place one state over, really ))

Look again at flights. You people all drive too much, long distances are what planes are for. It might be $50-$100 more expensive, but it doesn't take 4 days, either.

Time is money as well.

KC to say uh.. tampa is about $450 for two people round trip on the plane, and I took a shitty date start date. Takes about 4-5 hours, because you'll prolly not be able to obtain a direct flight. That was with the most cursory search.

Driving to uh say tampa, because I don't know exactly where in florida is about 1300 miles. Thats about 52gl of gas. Gas is average 1.70 or so. Thats $88.00 one way, or $176 all told. However, the driving takes 4 times as long, one must stop for foods, rest, hotel etc at some point, as well as other incidentals. This gets spendy quick.
