Jake: How often does the train go by?

Elwood: So often that you won't even notice it.

Just did my nightly check of all the doors, and I felt the train rumble as it travels down the tracks not far from here. Our next door neighbors once complained that the train goes by too often, but it reminds me of our last apartment, which was also less than a half-mile from the train tracks (same tracks, in fact). It's actually somewhat comforting to me, like a bit of nostalgia brought with us from Independence.

Anywho, time to update the old LJ. Weekend was pretty slow; tried working from home Friday and Saturday, and was able to maybe get about an hour of work done (thanks to an uncooperative SCP connection, probably due to some wonkiness between Comcast and no-ip.com). I'll have to bust my hump tomorrow morning to get things uploaded and tested, but what else is new? We'll still have enough to show to the client, and that's the important thing.

Had emotional ups and downs over the last few days, as I expected, and I apologize to anyone who was subjected to it. I can barely stand being around myself when I'm down; I can't imagine it's much fun for anyone else. However, there's always light at the end of the tunnel, usually in the form of a long-term emotional upswing. Seem to be in one right now -- I'm energized and feeling good, despite havng been awake since 5 AM. Oh, the joys of being bipolar. I wonder if that's what causes my occasional insomnia. Just a theory, but it would make sense. At least it's not severe, though. My moods just have slight peaks and valleys; some people oscillate between Mount Everest and the Grand Canyon.

Been playing FFXI lately (again, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] animarelic and [livejournal.com profile] greenwings) and been having fun. Half the fun is to just see bits and pieces of Final Fantasy around... people in Red Mage suits or Dragoon armor, people riding by on chocobo-back, airships taking off from Port Bastok... also got in my first party yesterday with someone I'd never met before (which is a huge step for me, the eternal wallflower). Had a good time, too. I'm looking forward to getting more familiar with the game so that I can do the same for someone else eventually.

Besides that... not much. Looks like Christmas is going to be a bit easier to do, thanks to Z's artistic talents; hopefully, we can spread the love around, which is always a good thing.
