Eat, drink, and be merry
Since the last entry in my LJ is one of gloom and doom and impending mental breakdown, I suppose I should update to let everyone know that it's all good now. ^_^
Friday night was good. Most of the issues on the server were resolved, and I celebrated by buying Final Fantasy X-2. Really enjoying it, too. Is it utter fanservice? Yes, but it's fanservice built on top of a really good game engine. It's also happily nostalgic for me; it's like coming back to a home you loved and meeting old friends, seeing what's changed and what's stayed the same. A bit maudlin, I know, but it's how I feel. I also don't mind the whole dressphere/garment grid system. The mechanic is wonderful, and I'm sure that if they were called "jobs" and "career grids," no one would complain. As for me, though, you'll hear no complaints.
Saturday was the dreaded server failover test... and nothing failed. It went smoothly, and everything was good. Got a couple of minor tweaks this morning to do, but otherwise, the nightmare that was the last week seems to be over. Of course, now I'll be playing catchup on other jobs, but that's not so bad. At least they're different projects with new challenges, instead of hitting the same brick wall over and over again.
Sunday was our early Thanksgiving dinner, and it was a lot of fun. A bit more expensive than I may have liked (we may have to put that Shaman King DVD set on hold, Z), but really, what price tag can you put on a evening of great food and wonderful conversation with good friends? Everybody helped pitch in on the dinner, and having a kitchen big enough to accomodate 8 people showed that we could honestly entertain people in the new house. It was so good to see everyone again; I hope to have more nights like it in the future.
And what's this? A four-day weekend coming up? Joy!
