The Move

Anywho, I promised more on the move, and I intend to deliver.

Saturday and Sunday were days of packing, transferring as many boxes as Runcie (our car) could hold, and finishing up the renovations. Got the kitchen and living room finished, the office mostly finished (just needed molding around the wall), and the bathroom fully functional. (It's still short 2 towel racks and a TP holder, but we'll manage until I can borrow a drill).

Monday was the big moving day. That's the day we moved the furniture, and thanks to some friends from church, we got it all moved in one day. Jake, a friend from [livejournal.com profile] evildennis's D&D group, brought his dad's gigantic F250 truck, which made hauling the couch and bed much easier, and later in the evening, Garrett drove over the church van and helped us with the bed and desks. We also got several loads of boxes moved, but there was still more to go - all the organized stuff was done, and we were in the "packing of miscellaneous shit" stage. Still, getting the furniture moved in one day was a huge coup. Also got the washer and dryer that day, so we can do our own laundry now!

We did have a few surprises on Monday - first of all, couldn't get a hold of [livejournal.com profile] hidaman -- because his work schedule got changed at the last minute. Dan, be glad you didn't come along, because the apartment would have been a death zone for you. Sweat bees were everywhere, and one of the little bastards stung me in the palm of my right hand. Pain's gone now, but Monday and Tuesday were annoying with pain. Didn't help that the washer got dropped a couple of inches onto my right knuckles, which are still a bit bruised. That said, it was still a good day. Got the entertainment center together and finished off the evening with a bit of Disgaea. First night we slept in the new house, too.

Yesterday was a stressful day, but all's well that ends well, right? First of all, it was cold and raining, and that cold sucked right into my sore muscles (and my stung/bruised hand), making every move a tiny bit of agony. Also meant that the roads were nasty, and there were a few accidents that slowed us down. Secondly, we had more miscellaneous shit than I'd previously thought, which made me a bit crestfallen - we were going to be moving all day, I just knew it. Fortunately, a last minute save from [livejournal.com profile] riff13 and his Altima cut our move time down by 2 or 3 loads, easily. (Mark, I owe you one.) Dad came over and finished up the office while we were moving, and we got the washer and dryer hooked up and cleaned out. Finished up the night by getting Master Loo back together, since the cable guy was coming today to get our cable modem set up.

And today was unpacking, getting cable set up, turning in the old keys, lawn maintenance, grocery shopping, and the true beginning of our life here. It's the first day where we haven't had an apartment in our name. It's still chaotic in here - the guest room is sick with boxes, and the office is pretty cluttered too - but it's getting better. I'll post pictures once we get the camera unpacked and batteries recharged.
