My foray into deeper geekitude, part 2
I'm slowly working into the all-nighter thing. I was up until 12:30 AM working on my PHP-based content management system. I know, 12:30 is far from "all night", but when you work a 9-to-5 job it feels like it sometimes. I think I just need to get my body used to running on about 6 hours of sleep. That, and I need more caffeine. I need some Jolt, or Bawls, or maybe I should go off the deep end and try Amp, since Dan swears by it.
It's also hard to do an all-night geek run when you want to sleep with your wife, but she goes to bed at 11 PM. Of course, that's one of the trade-offs of being in a relationship - you give up a few of the things you have when you're single to get the expanded benefits of being non-single. Sure, if I were still single, I could stay up as late as I wanted and not have to care what anyone else thought or wanted. Of course, if I were single, I wouldn't be well-fed, well-sexed, and well-loved as I am now. I'll gladly trade a couple of hours of programming time for that.
Of course, the other possibility would be to pull Z deeper into geekness with me... *chuckles evilly* We need to get a new DSL modem - one that I can network into a router so that we can both be online at the same time. That way, we could both get our online time, and everyone would be happy. Of course, the router and firewall would run somewhere around $100 to $200 (that we don't have), and who knows how much SWBell will charge for replacing the modem. It's a worthy goal, though. A networked DSL with a hardware firewall would mean no more USB drain or software firewall taking up system resources - there's no downside to it! Of course, I'll need my dad's help to set it up, as he is the Master Networking Geek.
*blinks* Need caffeine. Need to recover from staying up. *yawns*
